A rectangular field is twice as long as it is wide. If the perimeter is 360 what are the dimensions?

We are given or know the following about the rectangle
  • l = 2w
  • P = 2l + 2w
  • Since P = 360, we have 2l + 2w = 360

Since l = 2w, we have 2l + (l) = 360
3l = 360

Divide by 3, we get l = 120
Which means w = 120/2
w = 60
