The age of the older of the two boys is twice that of the younger. 5 years ago it was three times that of the younger. Find the age of each

Age of the older boy is o, younger boy is y. We have the following equations:

1. o = 2y
2. o - 5 = 3(y - 5)

Plug (1) into (2)
(2y) - 5 = 3y - 15

Plug this into our equation solver, we get:
y = 10

Plug that into (1), we get: o = 2(10), o = 20
